Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Albuquerque 20/30 Club?
The Active 20/30 Club of Albuquerque is a group of young men who are looking to better their community by assisting the needs of children.  The primary reason for our group is philanthropy - it doesn't mean we don't have some fun and network in the process!

How Many Members are There?
As of February 2010, we have 19 active members and looking to grow our membership!  The more members, the more we can do for the kiddos.  We are an all-male chapter, but there is a women’s club in town now.  You can check out their info at their website - http://theqactive2030.webs.com.

How Do I Become a Member?
We are consistently recruiting new members and we encourage interested parties to contact our President, Jason Deshayes, for more information on how to become a member.  We require all new members to attend 3 events prior to officially joining, in order to make sure that the Club is a good fit for you and vice versa.

How Often Does the Club Meet?
The club has two meetings a month, typically the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The business meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of the month and we cover business items we have on the table, as well as coordinate our event.  The dinner meeting on the 4th Wednesday of the month rotates between the different restaurants that support the Equestrian Cup.  We'll cover a bit of business there too, but we use this meeting to socially connect with our members and new recruits.

We also have social and service events throughout the year.  Check our calendar for details!

What is Provided at Meetings?
Food is always served during our dinner meetings, but beverages are charged separately. Business meetings are usually just drinks and some snacks.  Business meetings usually have the club picking up the tab for beverages, but within reason.

What are the Financial Commitments?
The Club has annual dues which are set the by Club's Board of Directors each year.  These dues cover our national dues as well.  Dues are payable in quarterly or annually (depending on how you want to handle it) and each member is also expected to meet fundraising goals with regard to our annual Equestrian Cup and other fundraising events.  Presently, our dues are set at $520 annually.

What are the Time Commitments?
There are no formal time commitments, but we do like to see our members at our meetings and projects throughout the year.  Our goal is to provide plenty of opportunity for youth to service and at different times to accommodate different schedules.  We figure you'll get as much out of the club as you put in.  In addition, all of our members are expected to attend and help with the Equestrian Cup and Kickball 4 The Kids Classic.

What Charities Does the Club Support?
We have served a number of local charities, including:

  • All Faiths Receiving Home Safe House Project
  • El Ranchito de los Ninos
  • Boys and Girls Club of New Mexico
  • NM Children’s Grief Center
  • Albuquerque United Way
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • New Mexico Children's Cancer Fund
  • Keshet Dance Company
  • Hayes Middle School
We are continually looking to support other children's charities and do when opportunities arise.  If you are a charity that serves children and are in need of support, please contact our Philanthropy Chair, Steve Dinkel – abq2030@gmail.com.
